"still quite a frozen landscape in boston with much snow but despite that venturing also to salem with my son and then with his still making it around the city and to the parks especially in the common to go with the sled but also back to the arnold arboretum and up the monumental hills in town catching a nice view of the city but also a more miserable and gray one inside it and with august still crossing the city on saturdays to make it to the cheap market despite the snow making our usual stop in quincy market for the chauda fish soup"

"in boston walking extensively despite the snow but enjoying the sunny weather and taking my kid several time with the sled down the hill in the common but also in playground mostly walking west of cambridge east and sort of never returning to the same place but always finding and discovering new spots in the city until a sudden change traveling with the whole family to puerto rico staying near the old colonial city in a run down neighborhood and visiting the city with my family getting some nice scenes with the sea and the fortified hilly landscape but also keeping it on the beach and into the not so nice nearby parks letting my son playing there with local kids"

"still in puerto rico traveling this time with my former student and her artist boyfriend in the inside of the island exploring a jungle there and then going to eat friend fish at the sea before later walking with my girlfriend and kid more to the modern part of the capitol reaching some beach sites there at last returning to boston with still some snow there nonetheless resuming our life roaming around the city and making it a lot to the center and the monumental site there also walking much with august in the poor part of cambridge mostly to the playgrounds of other schools to let him play for a bit as a break to our long walks"

"walking very extensively in boston now with the snow melting and taking my sone to many playgrounds but also out for several excursions going both south to the nice arboretum but also taking the commuter west to visit the small and beautiful towns around where the american transcendentalist thoreau grew up getting quite a nice vibe about such rural landscape and back in the city exploring more of the downtown and pretty much having always to get back in the afternoon to pick my son up from school and with him explore more of the playgrounds mostly in cambridge and towards harvard"

"a full month spent in boston going to many playgrounds with my kid especially falling in love with one in central cambridge and beside that in the weekends visiting other sites such as the harbour and the more central and touristic areas of the actual city especially in the near of little italy"

"a month walking extremely much through boston still conducting interviews there for the university especially in the are of little italy where i filmed several public places and going around a lot of other places in the city beside also staying at a lot of playgrounds with august and later with the family even going for a short holiday up north climbing some minor mountains there before returning to boston and making it to the monuments there and at times to the beach down south later starting a small collaboration at harvard trying to print my collages of trash on ceramic tiles and walking along the charles river and across it to reach the ceramic workshop"

"still very much roaming around boston with the usual stops at playgrounds to let my son play but also occasional stops in the chinese part of town to revive the time we spent in china and in parks filming much sport activities with the coming of the good season also at the beginning reviving more of our usual walks to monuments and the cambridge cemeteries"

"filming in the beautiful nature of maine going there with both august and his mother but also my polish former student jacek camping in the arcadia natural park and both making it up some small mountains and even venturing with jacek up a most scary clift really challenging my vertigo also filming from there and from down below on the beaches and in the tourist towns in maine and back in boston roaming around also with jacek and finding a lot of small festivals also traditional ones like in little italy with southern italians carrying the madonna with money attached and fireworks but also very frequently bringing my son to various playgrounds"

"going with my american italian mit researcher friend paul and my polish friend jacek to the franconia ridge and walking up the mountains there but being much slower than the two trying anyway to get a nice view of the alp like landscape later making it back to boston and exploring around the city going much downtown and to chinatown and mostly taking my son to the many playgrounds with quite a heat and a lot of fountains and pools for kids to play in at last also going by bus with jacek and the family to boston and staying right in east manhattan at a big apartment his jewish girlfriend got at a cheap price decades ago with a rental control having thus the possibility to keep a lot in central park and later take the family to coney island in the weekend experiencing a bit of a degraded side of american life with many migrants and some dancing and porto rican music and also a lot of people bathing also in the morning after way too hot nights unable to sleep exploring the east running paths of the metropolis getting some nice views of the skyline"

"still in new york city exploring chelsea and the new elevated road there with its wild vegetation and after making it back to boston with our mit researcher friend coleen making it to the marvelous walden pond after reading so passionately thoreau's life experiment there and really finding it also very purifying to swim with its lukewarm waters compared to the cold atlantic ocean in the city but later also getting a bit of warmer ocean going with the family on a trip to cape cod and finding some nice small gulfs there with however a strong tide putting me and august in peril later returning slowly to boston stopping in the first english settlements prior keeping in boston the last period for liselott and august soon bound back to sweden trying to let our son experience the nice outdoor side of the city as much as possible"

"left alone in boston with my old highschool friend alessandro quitting my job at mit university and going for a lat holiday with him making it to new york city exploring the most touristic side of it and then all the way to montreal meeting for the last time my father there walking together around the town with him most nervous about the sort of gay pride going on there but also visiting more historical sites and the park above saint urban where i also lived as a kid and then leaving my father for good and making it to toronto being quite impressed about the modern architecture and infrastructure there but mostly enjoying the beautiful and crystal clear ontario lake before driving down to the niagara falls still feeling much impressed about the rich canada especially in comparison with a most run down united states after checking the emptied out and trashed buffalo city with still the glamour of a once wealthy town and then stopping at lakes in the near of white people gated communities before reaching albany finding there less of a deprived state probably due to all the governmental institutions there and also some sort of music festival"

"on our way back to boston climbing with alessandro mount greylock in honor of thoureau and then returning shortly to cambridge leaving our nice life there to make it to the colder sweden but this time finding the family already installed in an apartment in the beautiful aspudden south of stockholm really enjoying the proximity to nature there taking often little august around to the city and along the vinterviken to the trekanten lake where i got first in contact with the city and then further on to the city feeling rather connected to the weather and with still glimpse of summer only making it once to uppsala and other than that keeping happily in the stockholm south exploring also much nature and getting nice shots from the top of the granite monoliths"

"with a bit of autumn setting in and anyway with keeping fully unemployed having all the time to keep up rexploring stockholm making it often to sodermalm walking east along the water and then often taking hikes in the nacka natural reserve both with august but also with my polish friend jacek and his jewish american girlfriend and after picking up august from school hanging out in the bay just north of our neighborhood and also walking along it exploring the west side of it and in a sunny weekedn with the whole family also making it to the big royal property of gardet reviving the nice round over into the beautiful djurgarden"

"still quite some sun despite the autumn coming by and with august at school taking quite some excursion across the city mostly from the south west and to the center even making it over to kungsholm and then often into the posh vasastan visiting jacek and following up to his idea to collaborate together and back with august mostly in the afternoons venturing more into our fjord to the west getting closer to the malaren lake just opposite of where his viking ancestors came from and more in the weekends making it with him to sodermalm mostly to a nice and trashy playground by the tantolund park"

"after more time spent in the increasingly darker stockholm still very active in my walks at last making a return to italy at first visiting the city of brescia leaving august and liselott in sweden and then reuniting with my mother and her husband after many years apart after my very mother turned out our offer to finish liselott postdoc right in venice and after spending some very nice days in vicenza in fact visiting venice with the old family to the return to vicenza and crossing it entirely making it a few times up the sanctuary and around the hills"

"spending more time in vicenza exploring this time at night to then depart by train to vienna being quite hit by the very cold humid weather there but nonetheless managing to walk through the entire city even reaching on foot the quite far danube river and then returning back to the city and visiting without a particular aim all the quite dead monumental and imperial architectures there upon returning to the sweet hills of italy and there getting quite a feeling of wanting to return to such an atmosphere looking at villages below my native highland and exploring the golden landscapes there at last making it slowly back to sweden stopping at first in begamo to cath my plane and exploring there the high up old town"

"still thoroughly exploring the nice city of bergamo upon returning to a most gloomy winter weather in stockholm with increasingly less light and some frozen days and even snow nonetheless making it around the city and also visiting two uppsala and in a sunny day also keeping august home from school and with him venturing acorss the lakes and over to sodermamlm and kungsholm walking by the water and next to the precious sun light reviving what we used to do when he was little later with a very winter weather in stockholm making it to italy all together and from the usual stop in bergamo where the low fare flights airport is located traveling this time to venice"

"still in venice with the family sort of instinctively directing ourselves to the very tip of sant'elena to enjoy the brilliant sun there avoiding much of the grayness of the inner city where my parents' small apartment is located and then leaving to spend time in their apartment in my native highland enjoying also the sun there and some snow bringing august to first world war fortifications and the ski resorts i used to go to when small but now almost without snow later also driving with the family to garda lake and keeping on the west side exploring the small town of limone and more to the south"

"in sunny vicenza exploring also the surrounding walking with my little family going back up the city sancturay and then down in the fields and later making it back to bergamo at night to catch an early plane back to sweden suddenly returning to the land of darkness and either exploring quite much stockholm with an increasing cold temperature turning all the smaller lakes frozen and filming the city crossing on to the ice also later with some sunnier days making it to uppsala and in my beloved hammarskog filming skaters on the lake there and back in stockholm experiencing the melting of the ice and some warmer days"

"with a bit of an early spring setting in filming stockholm and its many public places becoming rather dirty with all the remaining snow turned gray by the traffic and all the gravel and salt used against the ice emerging nonetheless getting some nice shots of the city center and later with following my swedish wife to a conference in berlin and there after a sunny day spent together in the more monumental part of the city suddenly being left alone with both liselott and august getting food poisoned in an indian restaurant and roaming the city alone making it in the more anarchic and suburban southern parts exploring kreuzberg and later keeping close to our hostel letting august have fun in a playground opposite to the old synagogue by the spree river after he slowly recovered but not his mother"

"still in berlin now with my family feeling better after the food poisoning taking them to the anarchist south of the city i previously explored and later going back to stockholm with the slow coming of the spring trying to take many walks there by the water in the south of the city but also going to the city center even at night when hanging out with my polish friend jacek and with him later making it to instanbul to walk around and record our thinking staying at first on the european side next to our run down hostel"

"a quite itinerant month at first still in istanbul with jacek exploring a bit of a muslim conservative side of the european part and the crossing the bosphorus and walking kilometers on the asian side through its neighborhoods and cemeteries and even a protest on the coast later returning briefly to sweden and beginning to be accepted for interviews to do a doctorate both in stockholm and later in helsinki even traveling there at last to talk to a committee and explore once again the city"

"beginning to film in helsinki keeping with my russian friend there and exploring also some forests outside the city with quite a nice weather later making it to venince walking extensively the city with my stepfather and then alone walking quite much in vicenza and in the country there returning later briefly to stockholm to then depart again to helsinki to hear more about the possibility of starting a doctorate there at the art academy and setting forth to explore the city once more"

"still in krakow with my polish students also making it to the socialist city of nova houta and to other sites like an artificial lakes and holocaust related areas before returning to sweden finding an incredibly nice weather there but giving up our nice life in the south of the city to go to uppsala and visiting the city at times but mostly keeping at my parents-in-law eventually going with the family to madrid to attend my half sister graduation there and exploring the city a bit slowly with all my italian relatives and then in a more interesting way alone departing from our hotel"

"still more time spent in madrid with only a day spent in a small village where my half sister private university was located and where her graduation took place later only to make it briefly to madrid again and then taking the train with the family south to malaga exploring a bit of the city there to then direct ourselves east to the smaller and not so interesting town of almunecar making it a few times to the not so nice beach but then getting wuite impressed visiting with the family the sierra and the small arab villages there becoming very nostalgic of such mountain landscape and so depressed about having to return to sweden spending some splending ime with my family also in the much nicer sea town of nerja"

"experiencing some more of the life in almunecar and the spanish beach with its cold and unpleasant ocean to return soon back to sweden trying to make our time in the countryside more bearable driving around with the second hand car we bought and at last leaving with jacek for the former prussian city of kalinigrad exploring it with him quite thouroughly and finding it most sad with most of the city destroyed by the war and reconstructed in a most ugly and bad fashion with half collapsing and identical condominiums which also turned out to be very expensive for average folk to afford"

"still exploring and filming the obscene soviet reconstructed city of kalingrad with its ugly monuments and collective housing later to make it to the nice and less bombed coast enjoy the time there despite the military presence and at last returning to sweden only to go on holiday with my family to my native highland again walking really a lot up the mountains there and only for a few days traveling to the gorgeous garda lake beginning to be very nostalgic of the south of europe and most terrified of spending more winters up north"

"feeling most depressed about the marxist and dogmatic training i have unawarely undertook and really trying to commit myself to something more elevating exploring some sites north of our neighborhood where to perhaps consider building my cathedral but then getting the stark opposition of my swedish wife and in the end taking a trip together by boat exploring cities on the baltic sea like tallin and later saint petersburg but setting off alone to film them as much as i could for the little time we had there at last also reaching helsinki"

"right back from the russian trip now taking walks around the city and the suburbs where my kid leaves which i am about to leave for an industrial suburb down south which i also explore particularly when the snow comes and i take advantage of some beautiful days in which i also walk long distances to save money and get into some really nice landscapes like a winter lake where i used to take my kid"

"filming in the emancipated suburbs of stockholm with the snow and then many filming all through the city of kopenhagen from the station to the harbour to then go to italy and film from the bergamo airport to the city and then my parents' city of vicenza and up on the dolomites with jacek where we were had an avalanche accident and in the beautiful south tirol filming in the gorgeous village of castelrotto and in bolzano at night to then go to a small village on the garda lake and back up to my parents in my native alps of the asiago highland where i had fewer chances of filming due to the cross-country skies i used when being with my stepfather"

"more filming in my native highland of asiago and also in the village itself to then go to krakow and fining a very nice spring-like weather to film on our way to a monastery along the main river and also in a small new year's eve journey to the sudetic mountains at the border with poland but also visiting and filming many destitute town around each border when finally the real winter sets in a film on my way to business in krakow ending up in desolated suburbs and even a concentration camp otherwise filming in the beautiful historical center and the big main square"

"in krakow going to town to organize a small exhibitions and try to publish some of my work despite the harsh weather and also much walking to the suburbs to go to the dentist or helping jacek cousin teaching italian and confronting with the harsh reality of the soviet regime with all its ugly residential and industrial buildings and even the short nazi regime finding a totally desolated concentration camp by a very spiritual site with an ancient burial mound to then later in sweden find an amazing frozen landscape which i explore in several walks alone but also with august filming much on frozen lakes also during a walk alone which took me to another immigrant suburb"

"in sweden still taking walks in the frozen landscape and filming as it was some sort of dutch landscape painting but less animated with fewer ice-skaters venturing out and on top of it finding some nice new panoramic parts of stockholm with little august to later go to a conference in berlin and escape whenever i could to go our and film the city but ultimately falling in love with the tier garden landscape and a strip of the city by the river which i often crossed on my way to the conference hall"
